As part of our World Teachers’ Day celebrations across Queensland we spoke to three school teachers, and the students they inspired.
Corey Gieskens has been teaching for 19 years. He is Head of STEM and Head of Industrial, Agriculture and Design Technology at Ferny Grove State High School. He is passionate about inspiring students to be 21st century thinkers and lifelong learners.
Kienan Wagner is a former student who credits Corey with igniting his passion for industrial design.
Maree Wimhurst is a Year 6 English and Humanities Teacher at Sheldon College who has been teaching for 18 years. She encourages her students to challenge and believe in themselves.
Scott Millar was one of those students. Scott graduated school in 2017 and is now the CEO of BOP Industries.
Sara Condon is a Senior Religion Teacher at Ambrose Treacy College who believes teaching has brought her fulfilment and enabled her to make a difference.
Patrick Robinson graduated in 2019 and believes the life lessons Sara modelled have helped shape him.
